Biology
A major in biology includes traditional areas of biology: botany, zoology, genetics, microbiology and ecology. Many of the courses incorporate lab reports, term projects with written reports, or oral presentations on selected topics. Biology labs provide students with hands-on experience and also give them opportunities to apply the information they learn in the classroom. Some of the labs are traditional indoor labs; some courses incorporate field trips and other outdoor activities into the learning experience. Biology majors pursue careers in government, industry, research, education, health sciences; and many continue their education in graduate and professional schools.
